Understanding how to use the hardiness map could be one of the most useful tools you have when determining what plants to use for your food plot or restoration project.

How to Use the Map

1. Find your location

Locate your area on the map. Each section has a color code showing the estimated annual low temperatures for that area.

2. Note your zone

Match the color for your location to its zone number. That zone is your guide when choosing trees.

3. Check each product

Every product in our catalog lists the zones it suits. Make sure the plants you have in mind are suitable for your zone.

Good to know: There will be exceptions, since natural fluctuations in growing conditions can vary from area to area. If you need more assistance, contact your local agricultural extension office for your specific zone, or give us a call.
